Jerry Lon Sims

"Jerry Lon Sims, 81, passed away on July 11, 2026, on Saint Simons Island, Georgia, after recently moving there from Atlanta, Georgia.

Jerry was born in Meridian, Mississippi, where he attended Meridian High School. He then attended the University of Mississippi, earning his degree in Mathematics before earning his Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School. He went on to practice law throughout his career, bringing dedication and integrity to his work as an attorney. Outside the courtroom, he was happiest spending his time with family and friends. He enjoyed spending much of his time outdoors where he would hike trails, travel to new places, and just finding peace in nature. He kept a keen and lifelong interest in politics, always eager to discuss the issue s of the day.

Jerry is survived by his son, Edward Sims; his daughter, Pamela Zoughi; and his grandchildren, Amanda Zoughi and Jonathan Zoughi.

A service celebrating Jerry's life will be held at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA on August 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

Jerry will be remembered for his sharp mind, his love of adventure, and his enduring curiosity about the world around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him."
