JoAnn Nix Martin

Jo Ann Nix Martin, age 90, of Forsyth County passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at her home. She was the daughter of Joe and Agnes Howard Nix, born on February 25, 1935. She graduated from Chestatee High School in 1951, attended Perry Business School for one year and worked in the medical field her adult life until retirement. She married the love of her life, Herbert H. Martin on September 10, 1955. They had three children. JoAnn was saved and baptized in August 1945 at Salem Baptist Church by Rev. W.H. Warren. She was an active member of Salem Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a tent holder and attended Lumpkin Camp meeting since 1975. She was a certified medical assistant, a life member of the Georgia State Society of Medical Assistants, a member of the Chestatee River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Historical Society of Cumming/Forsyth County, and the Homemakers of Chestatee. She was a volunteer at the Chattahoochee Baptist Association for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Agnes Nix; husband, Herbert Martin; father-in-law and mother- in- law, Charlie and Bertie Martin; brothers- in- law and sisters- in- law, Calvin, Ivan, Billy, Nettie Lou, Helen and Dorothy.

Survivors include her children, Greg and Shree Martin, Reg and Lori Martin, Melanie and Wendell Roper; 5 grandsons, Steven and Melissa, Jordan and Shannon, Adam and Courtney, Justin and Casey Martin, Keith and Sarah Roper; 12 great grandchildren, Ella, Anna, Bennett, Gabe, Bailey, Skylar, Nealee, Jalen, Michaelyn, Kolt, Lane and Lawson; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Elizabeth Nix and a long list of relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Taylor Cole, Rev. Wilson Pruitt and Rev. David Harris officiating.

Interment in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Salem Baptist Church on Friday, September 19, 2025, from 11:00 am until time of service.
