John Ryan Edgley, a beloved husband, father, son, and veteran, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the age of 40, at his home in Cumming, Georgia.
Born on September 23, 1985, in Islip, Long Island, New York, John spent the majority of his formative years there. It was on Long Island where he met and married the love of his life, Nicole Mary Edgley. Together, they embarked on a new chapter, moving to Cumming, Georgia, where they lovingly grew their family.
A proud Navy Veteran, John bravely served our country in the Afghanistan War, a commitment he held with deep honor. Beyond his service, John found great pleasure in life's simple joys. An avid sports enthusiast, he was a devoted, lifelong fan of the New York Jets and New York Yankees. Since settling in Georgia, he cultivated a keen interest in his gun collection and enjoyed spending time at the range. His family's happiest memories were often made on Disney Cruises, a tradition they cherished together.Johns other passion was cooking and photographing his masterpiece’s or so he thought they were.
John's greatest pride and joy, however, was his family. He delighted in watching his children, Mia, Ryan, and Dylan, participate in their sports and activities. He recently celebrated his daughter Mia's high school graduation, eagerly anticipating her college journey and proudly purchasing her first car. Weekends were reserved for precious family time, watching his children grow and create lasting bonds. John was a dedicated provider, working tirelessly to advance his career and ensure his family's needs were met, always striving for new opportunities.
John leaves behind his devoted wife of fifteen years, Nicole Mary Edgley; his cherished children, Mia, Ryan, and Dylan; his loving mother, Lori Moser; his grandmother, Marlene Contreras; his uncle, John Contreras and Thomas Edgely; and his cousins, Andrew, Vinny, and Tyler Contreras, Nicole, Daniella, Edgely and stepsister Erin Edgley.
He was preceded in death by his beloved father, John Daniel Edgley and his grandfather Ralph Contreras
John's unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his passions will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
