John Henry Fillinger

John Henry Fillinger, beloved husband, brother, father, and friend, passed away suddenly on August 7, 2025, at the age of 75. Born in Glendale, California, on November 9, 1949, to Paul and Florence Fillinger, John lived a whole life marked by faith, love, and service.

After graduating from high school, John studied arts for a year and a half. He served his country in the United States Navy before building a career in tile work and customer service. In 2017, John retired and relocated with his wife Brenda to Cumming, Georgia, the following year.

John gave his life to Jesus during his teenage years and faithfully followed his Lord and Savior throughout his life. John enjoyed serving in the Boy Scouts of America, as well as beingactively involved in his church families at Seekers Chapel in California and First Redeemer Church in Georgia. Wherever John went, he was known for his warm encouragement, servant’s heart, and deep love for Jesus, the Bible, and children.

A devoted husband of 37 years to his “princess bride” and“activities director,” John cherished his role as a husband, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; two children; his sister, Ann; friends and brothers and sisters in Christ, all of whom were blessed by John’s kindness, humor, and devotion.

John found great joy in the outdoors — especially fly fishing — and had a special fondness for Honduran cuisine. Whether sharing a laugh, lending a helping hand, or exploring God’s creation, John always went expecting what God had in store for him and with the determination to be strong and courageous inthe Lord's service.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia, followed by interment at 12:30 p.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
