John E. Lange, aged 80, a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, was called home on Sunday, September 7, 2025, in Cumming, GA, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. John's life was a testament to the values of his Catholic faith and the teachings of Jesus Christ, and he will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Funeral Services will be held for John at St. Brendan’s Church in Cumming, GA on Friday October 10, 2025. The service will begin at 1pm and will be immediately followed by a reception in the Social Hall.
John was born and raised in Jackson, MS, eldest brother of 5 children, and he graduated from St. Joseph's High School in Jackson, MS. John was a fierce competitor, having played baseball and football at his high school at top levels. He then furthered his education at the University of Southern Mississippi, before relocating to Atlanta, GA. A dedicated civil engineer, John's professional life was marked by a commitment to the development and betterment of infrastructure.
John was a loving husband to his wife, Debra, for 48 years wonderful years and was a kind and loving father to his 3 daughters. He could often be found coaching a softball game or attending a special Olympics competition in support of his children. He reveled in the time spent with his family and was his happiest in the everyday moments he shared with them all. John had a strong passion for supporting those that were marginalized or unable to speak up for themselves, especially for the developmentally disabled citizens of the community. He spent countless hours volunteering for support organizations and charities.
John's personal life was also filled with passion for sports and competition. An avid golfer and sports fanatic, he held a special place in his heart for the Atlanta Braves and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Additionally, John was a skilled card player and enjoyed pushing his luck at the casino, whenever he could.
John is survived by his wife Debra Lange; daughters Jennifer (Robert) Foster, Leslie (William) Mercier and Lauren Lange; brother Robert (Margaret) Lange; sister Deborah (Randy) Tippin; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He will be profoundly missed by his immediate family and an extensive family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was preceded in death by his Mother, Lois Lange; his Father, Harry Lange, and two brothers, Steve and Allen Lange.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1pm, at St. Brendan's Catholic Church, 4633 Shiloh Rd, Cumming, GA 30040.
