John Norris Nixon, 94, of Braselton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, John led a life defined by devotion—to his family, his faith, and his passions.
John served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a Signal Intercept Specialist during the Korean War. Following his military service, he built a successful career as a sales executive at Mercury Marine.
He was a devoted husband to Anne Marie Nixon and a proud father to Kim (Ken) Human, Leslie Livesay, Sharon (Julius) San Juan, Bruce Nixon, Chad (Alex) Nixon, and Ashley Nixon. John’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Matthew King (Tiare), Lindsay King, Parker Nixon, Claire Nixon and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Gertrude Nixon. John was also the adoptive father and grandfather to many close friends he loved as family.
John’s passions were many, including family, friends, race cars, boating, opera, traveling, history, and his church community. John served his church, Level Creek United Methodist, as the treasurer, a liturgist and as a member of the choir. John touched countless lives, acted and treated everyone with kindness, respect and dignity. Known for his big heart, care for others, boundless energy, curiosity, and fierce independence, he remained active and vibrant well into his 90s, fully embracing life.
John was a loving husband, father, and member of his church, always there for friends and family. He lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service for John will be held on June 8th, 2025, at 3 PM at Level Creek United Methodist Church in Suwanee, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Level Creek United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
