John David Sweeney

John David Sweeney of Cumming, GA passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born in Pittsburgh in 1944, to the late Howard and Naomi Sweeney. He was a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Cumming, GA. John enjoyed fishing, hunting and old classic cars. He loved spending time with his grandkids. John was a United States Navy Veteran. His favorite dog was Winny.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gerri Sweeney; children, Douglas (Stephanie) Sweeney, and Colleen (Michael) Bracken; grandchildren, Lydia Sweeney, Liam Sweeney, and Eleanor Bracken; siblings, Patricia Blake, Norma (Bob) Langol, and Tom (Maureen) Sweeney; along with several other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. Inurnment will take place on Wednsesday, August 16, 2023 at 1:30p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kindey Foundation in honor of John.
