John T. Meador Sr

John T. Meador Sr., 95, of Lawrenceville, GA, passed away December 9, 2015 following an extended illness. Preceding him in death was his wife, Opal Sanders Meador. "Jack" and Opal, native Texans, resided most recently in Chattanooga, TN for 29 years, and in Waco, TX. He is survived by his daughter, Joni and husband Kenny Buice, of Lawrenceville, GA; son, John T. Meador Jr. of Waterville, ME; daughter, Dotty Burney and husband Glenn of Cumming, GA; his beloved granddaughters, Chrisanna Buice of Stanford Kentucky, and Sarah Buice of Lawrenceville, GA; very special friend, James Hillis of Chattanooga, TN; and many beloved nieces and nephews in Texas and Georgia. A veteran pilot who served during WWII, and survivor of the Great Depression, Jack was an avid thrill-seeker throughout his life, regaling all with his wonderful stories of building and racing cars and stunt piloting! Retired from a long career as a mechanical contractor, after having lived in 19 states and 2 countries, Jack and Opal traveled extensively. Following retirement, he spent many weekends flying his small plane from his home in Chattanooga to Lawrenceville, GA to visit and delight his granddaughters, who shared in many of his adventures. They lovingly remember their Papa Jack as a man who never met a roller coaster or a motorcycle he wouldn't ride! During his final few years, despite many health challenges, Jack continued making friends wherever he went. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Visitation will be Saturday, December 12th at Ingram Funeral Home, Cumming, GA from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. A graveside service and burial will be Monday, December 14th at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
