Kathleen "Kathy" Elizabeth Gritton

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Elizabeth Gritton on May 11, 2025 (Mother’s Day). Kathy, age 89, was born July 14, 1935 in Newark, NJ to Anthony Milton Ehret and Evelyn McClorry Ehret. She went to heaven from Northside Forsyth Hospital after a head injury from a fall.
Kathy loved her family and her friends. She was very proud of her two daughters. She loved spending time with family and friends while enjoying some of her favorite things like the beach (she LOVED the beach), sweets (sugar of any kind), anything sparkly, yummy cocktails, Italian and Chinese foods. Some of her favorite pastimes were knitting, playing the piano, and gardening. She enjoyed planting flowers, tending/weeding the gardens, and gathering flowers for an indoor bouquet. She always had an inside bouquet. She was a strong, intelligent woman who was a teacher most of her life, teaching young children early in her career and later teaching adults about communication switches at Nortel and volunteering to teach English to non-English speaking immigrants. She loved to worship the Lord and singing (she was always humming a tune). She read the Bible cover to cover several times. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling and best friend - her sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Ann Hahn - her first husband, Donald E Heins, her second husband, John G “JG” Gritton, and her nephew, Douglas Hahn. Kathy is survived by her children, Dr. Cynthia L Heins and Dr. Sharon Heins Miller (Michael); four grandchildren - Danielle Mitchener (Philip), Nicholas Miller, Clay and Donald Dewey; a niece - Christine Hunter (Kenneth), and nephews - Jeffrey Hahn (Danielle) and Gregory Hahn (Jackie) and their families. Kathy will be greatly missed and remembered for her kind spirit, her love for fun, sparkles and laughter (and those sweets!). Visitation is Friday, May 16 from 5-8 pm at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. Celebration of Life is Saturday, May 17 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church (1597 Sawnee Drive), Cumming, GA.
