Kathryn (Kathi) Ann Hopkins, 65, of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 28, 2025 surrounded by people she loved.
Kathi was born in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ann & Robert Albright and sister to David (Oscar) Albright and was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated from East Kentwood High School and then went on to Grand Valley Community College, earning a degree in Computer Science.
After a 15-year courtship, Kathi married Chris Hopkins in 2000.
She was previously married to David Hernandez and was blessed with her son, David Michael. Later, she remarried Randall Lee (R.L.) Friesen who adopted David, giving him the Friesen family name.
Kathi had an illustrious career at AT&T as a computer systems analyst and was highly regarded in her field, managing both national and international projects. Her career brought her to the state of Georgia where she was able to retire early and pursue her passion projects. These included reading, jewelry, beadwork, studying towards becoming a master gardener, and following the Atlanta Braves (until the 8th inning when she would go to bed out of frustration). She enjoyed almost every type of music and was an accomplished pianist. She was an avid dog lover and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Words are too small to encapsulate the playful, loving, adventurous spirit that defined Kathi. Her undeniable love for life touched everyone who knew her.
Kathi is survived by her loving husband, Chris Hopkins, as well as her son, David, her two grandchildren, Jayden & Avery, her father Robert, her brother David (Oscar), and her loyal dog, Bailey. She was preceded in death her mother Ann and her stepmother Connie.
Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed online at ingramfuneralhome.com.
