Kenneth Eugene Hannel

Kenneth Eugene Hannel, age 79, of Cumming, GA passed away July 1, 2022 at his residence. He was born  February 28, 1943 in Morgan County, Illinois.

Mr. Hannel served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1964, which included tours at Chicksands AFB in England and Alaska, USA. Following his service, Mr. Hannel worked in the telecommunications industry, working 33 years for GTE. During that time, he worked in Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Argentina. After retiring, he continued his telecommunications work in California, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Georgia. Mr. Hannel loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed tennis, bowling, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan since 1954. Mr. Hannel was a member of the Robert Forsyth chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and a member of Bethelview United Methodist Church in Cumming, GA. He married Christine R. Brown on March 18, 1972 in Bloomington, Illinois. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in March.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Donald and Dean and his son, Patrick Scott. He is survived by his wife, Chris Hannel; three sons, Jeff, Steve (Jill), Eric (Karen); three daughters, Leslie (Sarju Patel), Stacey, Kelli (Russell Buxton); grandchildren and great grandchildren; his sister Betty Hart; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Thursday July 07, 2022 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Justin R. Combs officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
