  • Kikus Maurice Evans was born in Los Angeles, California on November 12, 1954 to Eula Walker Evans and Climmie Evans. He was welcomed by his two older sisters: Patricia and Rhonda. Kikus was a homebody and would reluctantly venture out to the homes of family and close friends. He accepted Christ at an early age, and attended church with his parents. Kikus became a big brother when his younger brother Byron was born in 1961. This bond made Kikus very happy. He enjoyed being a big brother. As he grew, he attended 32nd Street Elementary School, Foshay Jr High School, and graduated from Manual Arts High School as part of the Class of 1972. After graduation Kikus attended Los Angeles Community College and Los Angeles Trade Technical College. Kikus decided after community college to serve his country and enlisted in the Air Force in 1974. He was a Physiological Training Specialist until 1977 and was discharged honorably. While in the Air Force, he met Vicky Chambers. The two married and to this union two daughters were born; Niesha and Miko. Kikus eventually took a job with the Internal Revenue Service. He remained with the IRS for 30 years before retiring. During his free time he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren, listening to and playing music, building model cars, and trying out all types of electronics and technology. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his oldest sister Patricia Gillard-George, and his younger brother Byron C. Evans. He is survived by: his children Niesha (Melvin) Russell and Miko Evans; grandchildren Lailah Russell, Aaliyah Russell, Melvin Russell III, and Zavion Evans: his sister Rhonda Collins, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
