Larry Kenneth Fowler, 72 years old was a lifelong native of Cumming, Georgia.  Ken AKA “Captain Bob” was born May 1, 1952, to Bradford Fowler and Vennie Mooney Fowler of Cumming, Georgia.  He died suddenly on May 24, 2024.  Ken was a 1971 graduate of Forsyth County High School.  In 1971 he married Kathy Marie Massey from Roswell, Georgia.  Kathy and Ken had a once in a lifetime love story and enjoyed 52 years of marriage.  Ken graduated from the DeKalb County Fire Academy and started as a Dekalb County Firefighter in 1973. He retired after 30 years of service, ending his career as a Captain.  “Captain Bob” was well loved at the DeKalb County Fire Department as a jovial character and dedicated leader and trainer/mentor to many firefighters.   There was never a dull moment on his shift.

 He was beloved by his grandchildren who affectionately called him “POPS”.    Ken enjoyed sheepherding with his grand-daughter, McKenna.  He also loved to fish and watch Cowboys/MASH with his grandson Tanner.

 Ken is survived by his wife, Kathy, his daughter Tianna Rucker (Ronnie) of Cumming, GA., grandchildren McKenna and Tanner Copeland (Stephen Copeland) of Cumming, GA.  Ken is also survived by his sister, Shirley Honea (CM) of Cumming, GA., Norris Fowler (Jeanette) of Gillsville, GA., mother-in-law, Annie Bell Massey of Cumming, GA., sister-in-law, Patsy Ingram (Norris) of Cumming, GA., sister-in-law, Judy Massey of Cumming, GA., sister-in-law, Marcia Seay (Anthony) of Cumming, GA., brother-in-law, Reid Massey (Brenda) of Alpharetta, GA.  Ken was a loved and popular uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

 Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Bradford and Vennie Fowler of Cumming, GA., his brother, Horace Fowler of Cumming, GA. and his brother-in-law, Michael Massey of Cumming, GA.

 A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the DeKalb County Fire and Rescue Benefit Fund.  P.O. Box 1333, Tucker, GA 30085.
