Laura Thomas Mulkey, age 99 of Columbia, SC passed away January 16, 2026. Services are scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2026, with visitation at 1:00 PM and funeral at 2:00 PM in the Chapel at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA, 30040. Pastor Harry Valdez will officiate. Interment will follow at Old Roswell Cemetery, 100 Woodstock Street, Roswell, GA, 30075.
Born in Atlanta, GA she was the daughter of the late Henry Jacob Thomas and Ethel McPherson Thomas of Cumming, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Moorefield of Ellijay, GA, brother, Henry Landrum Thomas of Powder Springs, GA, and son, Thomas Richard Mulkey, of Cumming, GA.
Survivors include her children Paul D. Mulkey Jr. (Elizabeth), David W. Mulkey (Denise), nieces Patricia Price Gillespie, Mari Carpenter, Margaret Valdez, nephew James L. Thomas, grandchildren Paula Mulkey, Beth Veit, Celia Selena Prince, Leyla Wilcox, great grandchildren Kenneth Mayo, Ashley Mayo Barber, Paul Daniel Mayo, Carl Veit III, Gabriel Veit, Thomas Anthony Prince, Jackson Wilcox, Logan Wilcox, great great grandchild, Jasper Walker Prince, and many other family and friends.
Laura was a lover of music who played the guitar and sang along with her sister Ruth as part of several musical groups in her young adult years at various radio stations, music theatres and hotels in the Atlanta, GA area. As her children grew, she was primarily a homemaker but later worked in various administrative clerical positions in real estate, private medical practices, and a Christian outreach ministry for troubled youth. In her post-retirement years, she continued working in various part-time positions but most enjoyed working with young children in the nursery and child daycare program at Creekside Church in Cumming, GA. Her favorite hobbies were gardening, listening to music, and reading her Bible. In her later years she attended church services regularly - by virtual means due to health issues - at First Baptist Church of Columbia, SC. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with family and friends.
There will be a visitation on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the service at 2:00 PM which will be located in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home. The interment will follow in the Roswell City Cemetery.
