Lawrence “Larry” Ellis Knotts, a loving husband, brother, and father, passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 70 following a courageous cancer battle. Larry was born on June 9, 1955, in Norfolk, Virginia to Philip Lawrence Knotts and Nancy Catherine Jones Knotts.
He was well regarded by those who knew him for his humor, quick wit, intelligence, love of the outdoors, handy tradesman abilities, and willingness to lend a hand to all who needed it. He was a respected member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge in Cumming, Georgia and member of the local Dahlonega, GA community for the last 10+ years.
A graduate of Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Delaware and Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Larry spent a long career in information technology and cyber security, which brought him on trips around the world. On one such trip to Kazakhstan, he even met Mira, who would later become his wife.
Larry and Mira were married in 2018, and share one daughter, Alyssa Knotts. Larry is also survived by three daughters with first wife, Wendy – Jennifer Knotts, Catherine Stine, and Laura Register; 3 younger brothers – Robert (Bob), Daniel (Danny), and John; as well as 5 ‘grand-dogs’.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 2pm at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 pm until the time of the service.
