Leah Annette Vaughan Pruitt

Leah Annette Vaughan Pruitt, age 53, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church. Leah courageously fought a long and hard battle with Corticobasal Degeneration, a rare neurological disease, for seven years. Though she experienced many setbacks and disappointments during her illness, Leah is now completely healed with a new body and is resting in the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Leah is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Christian Dollar, daughter, Abigail Pruitt, and granddaughter, Harper Dollar. She is also survived by her parents, Rev. Larry and Nancy Vaughan, sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Tommy Weldy, niece, Ashlee and Caleb Fagan, and nephew, Mason Weldy. Several aunts, uncles and other family members also survive. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Fay and Juanita Martin, and JC and Helen Vaughan.

Leah was a 1988 graduate of FCHS and a 1989 graduate of Pickens Technical College where she earned a degree in Medical Assisting. She worked in the medical field for more than 30 years, working most recently with IN Compass Health, Inc. Leah had a giving spirit and always went above and beyond helping others who were in need. She loved big, especially when it came to her daughters and her precious granddaughter who called her Grammy. She loved everyone’s children as her own and was a mother figure to so many.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the following for their compassion and support: Lula Nix, her caregiver for more than 2 years, Angie Noles Smith, her special friend and cousin, Golden Rule Hospice and nurse Chris Hill, and most recently, Agape Hospice and nurse Lindsey LeCoultre. While the family rejoices in the eternal hope of Heaven together, they also want to express their deepest gratitude to a host of friends and family for all of the love, prayers, support, and donations that have been given on Leah’s behalf.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at Coal Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Weldy, Rev. Randy Richards, Rev. Pete Martin, Rev. Doug Carnes, and Rev. Gary Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming, GA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again on Wednesday, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.
