Leigh Harold Trostel, 73, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2025, surrounded by love and leaving behind a legacy defined by honor, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear.
Born on May 29, 1952, Leigh lived a life rich in service, camaraderie, and curiosity. From 1971 to 1981, he served with distinction in the United States Navy, spending much of his tenure aboard the nuclear submarine USS Sam Rayburn (SSBN-635). His time in uniform reflected his deep sense of duty, quiet courage, and steadfast discipline.
Beyond his military service, Leigh embraced life’s simple joys with open arms. His love for the outdoors began early, nurtured through years in the Boy Scouts, where he eventually earned the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout—a reflection of his perseverance, leadership, and adventurous spirit. He was a passionate bowler, admired not just for his skill but for the enduring friendships he cultivated at the lanes. His enthusiasm for barbecue was legendary—always experimenting with new recipes, he transformed every cookout into a celebration of flavor, laughter, and togetherness.
Leigh is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Susan Katherine Trostel, and their children: Michael Trostel; Eric Babbitt and his wife Jessica; Chris Trostel and his wife Brenda; and Bonnie Anglin and her husband Jeffery. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Spencer, Noelle, Zoey, Alexia, Jacob, Breanna, and Landon. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Sharon Seeber, and her husband Randy, along with their children Kurt and Dawn; and his sister-in-law, Maureen Trostel, and her daughter Laura.
Leigh’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and infectious laughter will be deeply missed—but forever cherished.
