Linda Lee Wagnon Heard, former Director of the Cumming Playhouse, passed away last Sunday, March 8, at age 79. Linda’s Home-Going Celebration will be held at Coal Mountain Baptist Church on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 11:00 am, with the Reverend Danny Bennett and Robbie Mathis officiating. Visitation will be held at the Ingram Funeral Home on Thursday, March 12 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Her final resting place will be at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens with Ingram Funeral Home in charge.

Linda was a native of Gadsden, Alabama but was proud to call Cumming, Georgia her home. Linda served 28 years with the City of Cumming where she retired as the Director of the Cumming Playhouse in 2018. She loved serving the people of the City of Cumming while working tirelessly to preserve the history of the town. Many of her creative ideas came to life including the Cumming War Memorial, the Heritage Village at Cumming Fair Grounds, and the Cumming Playhouse. One of her favorite and most successful productions was “Smoke on the Mountain”.

Linda graduated from Gadsden High School in 1965 where she sang with the Velvet Tone Choir and studied classical piano. She attended Jacksonville State University as well as Auburn University. Later, Linda sang alto with the Atlanta Symphony Chorus under the direction of Robert Shaw.

Linda loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with every fiber of her being. She had an extremely giving and generous heart. She loved to teach her grandchildren and great grandchildren songs about the love of Jesus.

Linda accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior early in her life and was a dedicated Christian. She was a member of Coal Mountain Baptist Church of Cumming. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wayne Heard; father, Albert Lloyd Wagnon; and mother, Mini Lee Turner-Wagnon.

Family survivors include her sister, Deborah Lenora Wagnon and niece Georgianna Lenora Karina Wagnon, her two sons, Jonathon Wayne Heard (Carlena) and Jason Lloyd Heard (Lisa); grandsons, Hunter Heard (Lexie), Fisher Heard, and River Heard (Alexandra); grand-daughters, Nora Heard (Chase), Mikayla Morris (Justin), Zoe Heard, and Meghan Morris, great grandsons, William Heard, Finn Heard, and Kyro Weaver; great granddaughters Piper Heard, Willow Matheny, and Nevaeh Weaver; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Heard, Fisher Heard, River Heard, Chase Weaver, D.R. Martin, and Myron Martin. Linda’s final resting place will be at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens with Ingram Funeral Home in charge
