Lorraine K. Middleton, 85, of Cumming GA died at her home on June 12, 2025. She leaves behind a family and community that will mourn the profound loss of her loving heart and her kind nature. She will be dearly missed by all who were touched by her presence in their lives.
Born in IA Lorraine grew up on a farm with her parents and three siblings. She attended Grandview College. She was married to J. Howard Middleton in 1960 and moved to Denver, CO where they settled for years and had two sons, Clay and Kevin. In 1975 they relocated to Lilburn GA where they raised their family. Lorraine worked for decades at CVS eventually specializing in the complicated resetting of the make-up section. Over the years her managers came to rely on her diligence and meticulous attention to detail as she single-handedly completed a job that typically took many hands. In their free time Howard and Lorraine enjoyed square dancing and it became a very active hobby that brought a circle of friends, travel and competitions.
In 2010 Howard and Lorraine retired to Cumming GA where they enjoyed watching and critiquing TV, keeping track of the hummingbird migration season and keeping the feeders stocked for Lorraine’s favorite bird. Lorraine was a mainstay at events in the community whether it was the book club or traveling dinners or holiday celebrations. Her circle of friends was large and they supported each other through many changes. She enjoyed nothing more than family celebrations, of which there were many, keeping in touch with family and friends and beading the gorgeous jewelry that we will all treasure.
Lorraine is survived by her brother Dave, her husband of over 60 years Howard, her firstborn son, Clay, and daughters in law, Tammy and Rebecca. Her five grandchildren, Lindsey Locke and husband Ben, Maria, Bonnie, Mara and William will miss her most of all. She was preceded in death by her two older sisters, Marjorie and Carol, her younger son, Kevin and her parents, Earl and Bertha.
There will be a memorial service at the Ingram Funeral Home and details will be forthcoming. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make a donation to your favorite charity in memory of Lorraine.
