Lt. Col. Roddy Lee Smith

Lt. Col. Roddy Lee Smith, Retired Regular Army of GA, age 89, passed away on December 15,2012. Lt. Col. Smith had an illustrious career in the military, serving in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1972. He fought in the WWII and Korean Wars and the Vietnam conflict. Lt. Col. Smith was the recipient of the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and numerous other decorations. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Bikle Means. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Guy Damiani of Alpharetta; son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Susan B. Smith of Salt Lake City; grandchildren, David, Matthew, Lindsay, Shane and Erin along with numerous other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home with a short memorial following at 8:30 p.m. Interment will be Wednesday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Benning Cemetery in Columbus, GA.
