Marcus Craig Shirley

Marcus Craig Shirley, AKA, “Big Sexy,” age 60, of Dawsonville, GA, passed away on May 9, 2023.  He was a general foreman for the UA Local Union 72.  He was a member of the class of 1981 Forsyth County High School, where he was the starting quarterback and earned a college scholarship.  He was loved by all and never met a stranger.  He was a self-described good “Ol’ Redneck Country Boy.” He loved fishing, sports, and UGA football. GO DAWGS!! He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Lee Shirley.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Shirley; father, Claud Shirley; children, Emily Shirley, Cody Lane Shirley, Matt Walker, Josh Martin; brother, Danny Shirley; nephew, Brett Shirley.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA, with Rev. Ronnie McCormick to officiate. The interment will follow at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Alpharetta, GA.
