George “Teddy Bear” Tierce, 73 years old, of Cumming, GA passed away at his home on May 1, 2023.
George was born in Charleston, MS on December 25, 1949 to the late M.B. and Daisy Porter Tierce of Phillip, MS.
George married the love of his life, Carol Cook, in 1976. George and Carol were loving parents to two daughters, Shelley and Gail.
George was a retired letter carrier for the US Postal Service , and a Veteran of the US Navy. George was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. George had a deep love for his family. To know him was to love him. George was rarely seen without a smile on his face and always had encouraging words to share. George loved the Lord and the church, he and served as an Elder at Cumming Church of Christ.
George was preceded in death by his parents, M.B. and Daisy Tierce and his brother, Mitchell Tierce. George is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Carol Cook Tierce and daughters Shelley Mathews (Jeremy) of Dahlonega, GA and Gail Tierce of Cumming, GA. George is survived by three grandsons - Austin Utz of Cumming, GA, Andrew (Maggie) Utz of Greenwood, MS and Sheldon Utz (Lori Beth Lassett) of Moorhead, MS, one great-granddaughter Annie George Utz of Greenwood, MS, and longtime friend Mike Utz of Greenwood.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 6pm -9pm at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 3pm at Cumming Church of Christ in Cumming, GA.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization George felt very strongly about.
