Martha Jean Sams

Martha Jean Whitt Sams, age 79, a lifelong resident of Forsyth County passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Martha was a retired custodian for the Forsyth County Board of Education and a member of Cross Plains Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Gayton and Roy Sams and 2 sons, Talmadge Gayton and John Gayton and 2 grandsons, Scotty Gayton and Dillon Gayton. Survivors include her children, Linda Tanner of Jasper, Carolyn Shirley of Cumming; brother, J.R. Whitt of Dawsonville; longtime friend and companion, J.C. Whitmire; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, at 2:00 p.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Richard and Rev. Ricky Fields officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
