Martha Kilpatrick Lester, 85, of Cumming, GA passed away June 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Martha was born in Boaz, AL to the late Versie and Lorene Kilpatrick. Mrs. Lester graduated Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 1983 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics, and was a member of the distinguished Phi Beta Kappa Society.
Martha was born on July 21, 1939, in Boaz, Alabama. On June 9, 1959, she married the love of her life, beginning a lifelong journey filled with love, adventure, and devotion. Together, they raised a family and traveled the world, creating cherished memories along the way.
A woman of faith and dedication, Martha was a member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed a fulfilling career that included roles with NASA, the Presbyterian Church, and H&R Block.
Throughout her life, Martha called many places home, but none captured her heart quite like Hilton Head, South Carolina, where she and her husband retired and embraced the coastal life they loved so much.
Martha found joy in many things—spending time with friends, traveling with her husband, golfing, reading, crafting, listening to big band music, and watching classic films. But more than anything, her greatest joy came from time spent with her beloved family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband in 2007, Nelson Lester. Martha is survived by her son, and daughter in-law, Lew and Karen Lester; daughter, Lori Lester Thomas; grandchildren, Lewis Lester, Jr., Jacquelyn Lester, Jackson Thomas; sister, Janice Noles, seven (7) nieces and nephews, and eight (8) great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her older brother, Charles Kilpatrick.
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 pm Monday, June 30, 2025 at the Oaks at Hampton, 5610 Hampton Park Drive, Cumming, GA 30041.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Aicardi-Goutières Syndrome Americas Association https://agsaa.org/donate
