Martha Sutton Thorburn

MARTHA SUTTON THORBURN, 76 of Gainesville, Georgia passed away on Saturday, November 17th, 2012 at North East Georgia Medical Center.

She is survived by her daughter Lydia Elizabeth Thorburn; son Robert (Lars) Lawrence Thorburn; daughter Laura Irene Thorburn-Gundlach, her husband David Thorburn-Gundlach; granddaughters Madison Ashley Thorburn-Gundlach & Quindlyn Olivia Thorburn-Gundlach.

Martha Thorburn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. The greatest times in her life were spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed playing at the beach, traveling through the North Georgia mountains, working in Real Estate, long vacation trips, singing, fine dining, chocolate chip cookies, telling stories, decorating, stylish clothes, musicals, and ghost stories. Her husband, Bob, who passed away in April of 2011, was the love of her life. They met on a blind date and it was love at first sight. They worked together, loved together, and raised a wonderful loving family together. She enjoyed working with her daughter Lydia at the radio stations. She enjoyed listening to the original music of her daughter Laura and her son Lars and watching them perform in their various bands, whether marching in school or in groups with which they performed on stage. Her granddaughters Madison and Quindlyn were the light of her life. Mom really enjoyed watching her kids, son-in-law David, and grand kids have fun on the lake whether it was Lake Carroll, Lake Burton, or Lake Lanier. The sounds of their laughter and giggling just made her smile.

Dad brought Mom into broadcasting and spent many happy years working in radio. However, she wasn't just a successful broadcaster, she was an artist, singer, and actress. After the move to Atlanta she became a real estate agent. She loved watching houses being built and showing those houses to prospective buyers. She then worked again with her husband's media brokerage firm in The Thorburn Company. However, Mom's was most happy in her main occupation as wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Martha Sutton Thorburn who loved and was loved a lot.
