Marvin “Gene” Eugene Seay

Marvin “Gene” Eugene Seay, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1937, to the late Marvin and Beulah Seay. Gene was a polio survivor and because of that, became a supporter of The Polio Survivors Association, as well as Friends of Disabled Adults and Children (FODAC). He was a graduate of Sylvan High School and throughout the years, had stayed in touch with many of his high school friends, particularly, the Bar-B-Que Bunch who loved to meet for lunch at bar-b-que restaurants around the Atlanta area. Gene attended Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a proud member of the drumline in the marching band. He was also proud of his accomplishment of becoming an Eagle Scout.

Gene was a member of Mount Carmel Christian Church in Decatur and later Stone Mountain, Georgia. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Catherine Honea Seay, and his son Michael Lee Seay.

Gene is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Mark (Terri) Seay, Scott (Amy) Seay, Steve (Franki) Seay and Keith Seay, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, along with many other loving relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of The Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, Georgia with Dr. Dan Parker officiating. The family will receive visitors from 1:00 pm until the time of service.
