Mary Elizabeth Chastain

Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Chastain, 84, of Cumming, Georgia passed away on August 29, 2025. Liz was born in Fannin County, GA on August 14, 1941. She was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church.

Liz is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Johnny Johnson Chastain; son Ronald Charles Chastain; parents Myrtle and Jewel Gillespie; grandparents Harriett and Samuel Panter, and Cora and Thomas Epps; sister Mildred Louise Gaddis; and brothers Carlas and Thomas Gillespie.

Survivors include sons Johnny Max (Maureen) Chastain of Buford, GA, and Michael Eugene Chastain (Charlotte) of Mineral Bluff, GA; daughter Sharon Ann (Lamar) Moore of Dawsonville, GA.; grandchildren Christine Loveless of Buford, GA, Clayton Chastain (Sarah) of Marietta, GA and Claire Smith (Brandon) of Jefferson, GA; and great-grandchildren Destynee Loveless, Desaraye Loveless, Raylan Martin, Enzo Chastain, Fritz Chastain, Paisley Smith, Ella Smith, Leo Smith and Eli Smith; brothers Charles Gillispie and Ralph (Karen) Gillespie of Blairsville, Leroy (Helen) Gillespie of Ellijay; sister Frances Morris of Alabama; and many treasured nieces and nephews.

Liz worked at Lawrenceville Pad Co, Frito-Lay, and Scientific Atlanta. She will be remembered for her kindness, her smile, her love for her family, birds, and flowers, her fried chicken, and biscuits and gravy.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 pm on Tuesday, September 2, and for 1 hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Caine and Rev. Tim Royster officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 pm at Toccoa Baptist Church Cemetery, 7670 Old Hwy 76, Morganton, GA 30560.
