Matthew Ledbetter, a lifelong resident of Forsyth County, passed away on June 27. Matthew proudly served as the Forsyth County Tax Commissioner for 21 years. He graduated from Forsyth High School and The University of Georgia. He was a founding member of Cumming Baptist Church. Matthew was a passionate outdoorsman whose hobbies were a huge part of his life. He was an avid hunter, cattle farmer, and Georgia Bulldog fan.
Matthew was larger than life and his presence filled every room he was in. He truly had a servant’s heart for helping others and treasured his lifelong friends and those he met along the way. If he had an opinion, he shared it. If you needed help, he stepped up. He doled out advice, tough love, and guidance to those he cared for the most.
Nothing brought Matthew greater joy than his family. He is survived by his wife, Allison, sons Evan and Ben, parents Barbara and Lewis Ledbetter, sister Lori (Paul) Fortunato, sister in law Carolyne Britt (John), in-laws Anne and Charlie Nance, Steve and Nancy Mathers, four beloved nephews, and a huge circle of cousins, in-laws, and extended family.
Celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 11am at Cumming Baptist Church . Rev. Jamie Archer will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1 from 4pm-8pm and Thursday at 9am until time of service at Ingram Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in his memory to Cumming Baptist Church and No Longer Bound.
