Melvin Lamar DeLong

Melvin Lamar DeLong, 82, of Gainesville passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his home. Melvin was a laid-back, quiet man and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was very helpful and kind to others. Of the Baptist faith, Melvin was loved by many.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette DeLong; sons, Scott Blackstone and Dustin Blackstone; daughter, Lacretia Blackstone; grandchildren, Addison Blackstone, Danya Blackstone, Zack Blackstone, Austin Blackstone, Amanda DeLong, Jessie DeLong; numerous great grandchildren; brothers, Doug DeLong, Doyle DeLong, Dennis Delong; sister-in-law, Donna DeLong; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 26, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, with military honors, will be Monday, June 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.
