Melvin (Skip) John Warnecke, Jr.

Melvin John (Skip) Warnecke, Jr., 78, of Dawsonville passed away Friday, May 12, 2023. Skip was a great and loving husband, Dad and Grandpa. He loved scuba diving, boating and swimming. Skip was known as a “shade-tree mechanic” who could fix anything. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam and was retired from Sara Lee Baking Company. Skip will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Holcombe Warnecke; children, Cynthia Ann (David) Baker, Malisa Ann (Stan) Holmes, Debra Ann Warnecke; grandchildren, Brittany Brock, Alexander Brock, McKenna Baker, Hannah Holmes, Mady Holmes; sisters, Judy Stetson, Gayle Runyon; mother-in-law, Joyce Holcombe; and several nieces and nephews.

Inurnment services, with military honors, will be held Tuesday, May 23, at 12:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 to 7:00 p.m..
