Michael George Alderman went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 28, 2025, after an extended illness and courageous battle with cancer. He was 75 years old.
Michael was born on November 21, 1949, in Pensacola, Florida, to Frank and Elizabeth Alderman. In the 1950s, his family moved to the Shady Grove community in Georgia, where his father worked on the Buford Dam project that formed Lake Lanier. Michael and his older brother, Butch, attended Chattahoochee Elementary School before the family returned to Tallahassee, Florida, where he later graduated from Leon County High School.
Michael worked alongside his father and brother in commercial construction and went on to become a successful real estate broker with Alderman Properties in the 1970s. A gifted and natural salesman, he managed several auto dealerships throughout North Georgia, Marianna, Florida, and Dothan, Alabama. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to manage his family’s seafood restaurants, The Dock of the Bay on Browns Bridge Road, and Alderman’s Sea Party in Dothan.
In his younger years, Michael enjoyed surfing and throughout his life remained passionate about football, fishing, boating, the beach, and classic cars.
Above all, Michael was a devoted born-again Christian. He attended Free Chapel and Freedom Tabernacle as often as his health allowed, drawing strength and peace from his faith.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother, Butch (Frank Jr.) Alderman.
He is survived by his son, J. Nicholas Alderman; his sister, Beth (John) Culp of Cumming, GA; his brother, Jason (Lisa) Alderman of Marianna, FL; his aunt, JoAnne Stone of Grand Ridge, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his special friend, Sherry Nelson (Nick’s mother), who remained a cherished presence in his life.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the compassionate teams at Northside Hospital-Forsyth, Northside Cherokee, and Accent Hospice for their attentive and loving care.
A memorial service and celebration of Michael’s life will be held at a later date. The family appreciates your prayers and support during this time of grieving.
Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Ave, Cumming, GA is in charge of arrangements.
