Michael Hawthorne, 63, passed away on July 10, 2026.

Born on June 14, 1963, in Long Beach, California, Mike spent much of his childhood traveling with his military family before eventually settling in Pensacola, Florida—a place he always considered home. Growing up on the Gulf Coast gave him a lifelong love of the water, and some of his favorite days were spent deep-sea fishing in the Gulf.

Mike graduated from Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in Finance before going on to own and operate his own pest control business for many years. He took pride in working hard, building his business, and serving his community until his retirement.

More than anything, Mike loved his family. He spent countless hours coaching Kyle and Emily's sports teams when they were young and was always there to cheer them on. He loved being a dad and took great pride in watching his children grow. A lifelong Florida State fan, Saturdays often meant cheering on the Seminoles.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Kay Hawthorne, and his sister, Susan Hawthorne.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Hawthorne; his children, Kyle Hawthorne and Emily Hawthorne; his brother, Rick Hawthorne, and Rick's wife, Teresa; as well as his step children, nieces and nephews, extended family, longtime friends, and many people whose lives were made better by knowing him.

Mike will be remembered for his love of family, his steady presence, his strong work ethic, and his appreciation for the simple things in life—a day on the Gulf, a good football game, and time spent with the people he loved. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

In accordance with Mike's wishes, no memorial service will be held. His family asks that those who knew him remember him in their own way, whether by spending time with loved ones, enjoying a day on the water, or simply sharing a favorite story about him.
