Michael Skipper Knight

Michael Skipper Knight, 78, passed away on July 25, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

He was born in Bainbridge, Georgia, on September 2, 1946. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he spent his entire career working at Eastman Chemical Company. He was also a longtime member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Knight; his mother, Georgia Skipper Knight; and his father, John Franklin Knight II. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Knight Maddux; his son, Michael Skipper Knight Jr.; and five grandchildren.

He will be remembered for his love, his kindness, his genuine nature, and the many lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsport, TN on August 23rd at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Kingsport, TN.
