Nancy Lee (Tierney) Yeager, 68 of Brookhaven, GA, passed away the morning of February 4, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She heroically battled breast cancer for the past 10 years. She enjoyed spending much of her retirement time at her Nana House in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
She was born on March 28, 1944 in Boston, Mass. to John C. and Katherine (Snow) Tierney. Traveling would be a big part of her life as she grew up in Wyoming and attended Kalamazoo College in Michigan, where she met her husband, David D Yeager. She studied abroad during her junior year in Sierra Leone, West Africa, attending Fourah Bay College in Freetown. She received her B.S. Psychology Degree with Honors from Georgia State University and continued graduate studies in Medical Anthropology.
On March 26, 1966, David married Nancy. They lived in Germany; California; and then finally in Atlanta, Georgia, where they resided for the last 40 years. She worked for Emory University Hospital for 35 of those years.
Nancy is survived by her husband David; son and daughter-in-law Andrew Michael (Denise) Yeager; daughter, Erika Lynn Yeager; grandsons, Winston Michael and Erik Merlyn Yeager; brothers, Lee and Peter Tierney. Services were held on February 9th at Hospice Atlanta Center Chapel.
In celebration of Nancys love of nature, the family has asked that donations be made to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in her memory.
