Phillip Warren Castleberry passed away on January 21st, 2026, surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Forsyth County, Georgia, he lived a life marked by commitment to his work and his faith.
Phillip attended the Elkins School of Broadcasting in Atlanta and went on to build a distinguished career in broadcasting. He served as DJ and General Manager of WHNE (formerly WSNE) in Cumming, Georgia, and was the owner and operator of WDGR in Dahlonega, Georgia from 1992 to 1996. After his years in broadcasting, he retired from American Proteins.
A man of strong faith, Phillip was a longtime member and deacon of Harmony Grove Baptist Church, where he faithfully served his church family and community.
Phillip is survived by his daughter, Susan Mason (Ken), and his son, Steven Castleberry (Nikki). He leaves behind two beloved granddaughters, Jude (Makenzie) and Kadie Castleberry. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers: Wanda Garner; Linda Evans (Mikel); Donny Castleberry (Beth); Buddy Castleberry (Susan); Earl Castleberry (Rita); Cecil Castleberry (Gail); and Edna Orr (Danny); as well as his sister-in-law, Joyce Castleberry (Lanier).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Higgins) Castleberry; his parents, Warren G. and Mildred Castleberry; his sister, Patti Carroll; and his brother, Tommy Castleberry. He was also preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Andy and Imogene Higgins, and Rachel Higgins; brothers-in-law Carl Garner, Elwin Higgins, Donald Higgins, and Mack Higgins; and sisters-in-law Jo Anne Stanford, Pat Higgins, and Gladys Higgins.
Phillip will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his service to his church, and his lifelong passion for gospel music.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Carl Garner Sharing Ministry or to the charity of one’s choice.
Services are Thursday, January 29, 2026 in the sanctuary at Harmony Grove Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, service starts at 1:00 pm followed by a graveside prayer.
