Rene Walter Gutensohn, 72, of Cumming, GA, passed away on March 3, 2026, at Northside Hospital. He was born on July 31, 1953, in Thaleischweiler, Germany, to Maria Dolores Gutensohn (Ruiz) and Herbert Gutensohn.

Rene started his working life as an electrical apprentice, but then he decided to study as electrical engineer. To supplement his income, in his free time he also performed as a musician.

After his studies he started his career as an automation engineer for Siemens and traveled around the world until the end of his professional life.

Rene made many friends during his travels, and he will always be remembered for his dry wit and sense of humor, generosity to the people around him, and his incredible musical ability.

Rene is survived by his son, Yves Gutensohn; his mother, Maria; and his sister, Manuela Gitta Hoffmann. Rene was preceded in death, by his father, Herbert; and his sister Conchita Doris Brucker.

In honor of Rene, a Celebration of Life will be held at later date.
