Richard Doyle Anderson, of Cumming, GA, age 67, passed away after suffering a fall at his home. He was loved by all of his family and friends and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was employed with the State Department of Education in Atlanta, Georgia for 32 years and retired from there at the age of 50. During his tenure there he was listed in the Georgia Magazine as one of the top purchasing agents in the state of Georgia. After retiring from the state of Georgia he worked with the Forsyth County Board of Elections as an assistant manager at several voting precincts. He was a lifetime member of Shiloh United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee for many years. He was also one of the main organizers of the Shiloh UMC Annual BBQ. He was an avid sports fan and followed all of the Atlanta teams from the time of their inception in 1965. He was especially a fan of his daughter as she participated in sports throughout high school and college and when she became a girls high school basketball coach while teaching at several local schools. He attended most every game in which she was involved. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ira and Daisy Bottoms and Chester and Essie Anderson; parents, Doyle and Dicye Anderson; daughter, Cheryl "Lynn" Anderson (9/14/67 - 5/25/84) and his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Hoyt Westbrook. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Nina Hughes Anderson; daughter, Shelly Anderson and partner, Donna Hays; sister, Deborah Anderson Moore; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Wanda Anderson; brothers in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene and Brenda Hughes, James and Linda Hughes, Michael and Jimmy Hughes, Henry and Gail Hughes, Donald and Marilyn Stone, Ann Hughes; twin grandsons, Richard Ashton Anderson-Hays and Dillon Rhys Anderson-Hays and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Rev. Doc Hall, Rev. John Bowling and Rev. Randy Walworth officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Ingram Funeral Home & Crematory, Cumming, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
