Robert Edward Nelson

Robert “Bob” Edward Nelson, 62, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024. Bob was born on January 17, 1962 in Yorktown, New York to parents Robert Allen and Jane Marie. He went to Lafayette College and received his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering in 1984. While spending his summers working at Alexander’s Department Store, Bob met the love of his life, Maureen Nelson (nee Faughnan) and the two were married in October 1984. 

Bob worked his entire career for Siemens Energy and Automation, celebrating his 40th work anniversary in 2024. When he wasn’t working, Bob loved fishing, photography, and cooking, and had a special passion for music. This was served well when he spent time as a band dad for his two children, Robert L. (Rob) and Sarah, driving the equipment trailer, taking photos, and cooking meals for the group. As that chapter ended, Bob turned to an exhaustive project of cataloguing and digitizing his substantial record, tape, and CD collection. He and Maureen also spent time traveling and exploring the world, most recently on a cruise to the Panama Canal to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Bob loved cooking for family and friends and always had a new recipe to try, much to the benefit of those lucky enough to get a seat at the table. 

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jane Nelson and sister Laura Boddie (nee Nelson). He is survived by his wife, Maureen, and children Rob and Sarah. 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 at Ingram Funeral Home, 210 Ingram Avenue, Cumming, GA 30040. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until 3:00 pm and a service will be held at 3:00 pm in the chapel.
