Robert W. Petrie

Robert W. Petrie, 79, passed into the loving arms of our Lord on November 16, 2022. Bob was born and raised in the Mohawk Valley in New York. He was predeceased by parents Albert and Lois Dodge Petrie, his brothers, Roger (an infant) and Richard, and his cousin, Alan Rosbrook.

After earning a Master’s in Art Education at Buffalo State, he taught for many years in New Hartford before retiring in 2000.

He enjoyed his memberships at First Presbyterian in Brandon, FL, Niccolls in Old Forge, and Westminster in Utica, where he served as deacon, elder, and clerk of the session.

His interests included genealogy, music, art, crafts, travel, and Meals on Wheels and other volunteer work and charities. He especially enjoyed antiquing, with a particular interest in 19th- and Early 20th-Century glass and recalled fondly the semester he spent studying art abroad in Italy. In his retirement years, he could be found hand-feeding chipmunks, entertaining, and boating with the wife he adored at his White Lake home, a cabin in the woods where he collected and displayed local Adirondack crafts.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, and blessed with children and in-laws Jennifer (Eric) and Brian (Angela), and 3 precious grandsons, Elijah, Malakai, and Sagan. He also leaves two special cousins, David Rosbrook and Cynthia Rosbrook Baldwin. He was fortunate to have many loving friends.

The family requests that you celebrate Bob's life in any way that will help make the world a better place.
