Robert Henry Schmitz, Jr., was born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 8, 1956, and passed away on November 4, 2024, in Cumming, Georgia. He was a devoted husband to Paula for 48 years and a loving father to his three children.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert. He is survived by his mother, Anna, beloved wife Paula, son David (Nichole), daughters Jennifer and Emily (Marshall). His grandchildren Hailey (Jeffrey), Lindsey (Gotti), Linkin, Henry, Robert, Piper, Elizabeth, as well as great-grandfather to Cheyanne and Deanna. He is also survived by siblings John (Lois), Valerie (Shawn) and Victoria, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert proudly served in the United States Navy along with his wife. He had a deep passion for music and was an avid concert goer, he loved the Chicago Bears, and traveling to new places with his wife. He was a member of First Redeemer Church for over 20 years and proudly served his community in many ways through charities such as Whispering Hope, There’s Hope for the Hungry, and various other activities. His greatest adventures involved making memories with his family and grandchildren. His warmth and tenacity for life will be profoundly missed by those who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on November 8, 2024, at First Redeemer Church of Cumming, Georgia, with Robert laying in state at 9:00am. Services begin at 10:00am followed by procession to the Georgia National Cemetery with internment service beginning at 1:00pm.
