Our beloved wife, mother and friend, Roberta Mary Smee, 77, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on December 17th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 7th, 1948, in Hartford, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Rita Smith.

Roberta graduated from Rockport High School in 1965 and earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Connecticut in 1969. She went on to earn a Masters in Education from Penn State. Teaching was important to her, and she took pride in the impact she had on her students over her thirty years in classrooms. Her favorite was eleventh grade American Literature. She had a deep love of literature and shared that passion with her students. Through her teaching she touched countless lives.

Roberta was known as a kind and thoughtful woman and for her warm smile, generous spirit, unwavering devotion to her family and genuine care for others.

Roberta married her beloved husband, Wilson P. Smee, on February 21, 1992. She shared 33 years of marriage with her husband and together they built a life rooted in love. Roberta was also a wonderful mother to her four children and took great pride in supporting and encouraging them throughout their lives.

Roberta was a member of St Columba ‘s Episcopal Church, enjoyed reading, Scrabble and music. She loved spending time at the beach, where she found peace and comfort in the ocean and its rhythms.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Wilson P. Smee; children Julie Stewart of Smyrna Georgia, Kimberly (Mike) Carey of Alpharetta Georga, Laura Burkhart of Smyrna, Georgia and Adam Glaiber of Marathon, Florida; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark Smith and sister Donna Brennan.

Roberta will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the quiet, lasting impact she made on the lives of those who knew her. We will all miss her smiles, gentle laughter and warm hugs.

A service to celebrate Roberta’s life will be held on January 17th 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church, 939 James Burgess Road, Suwanee, GA 30024.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roberta’s memory to the National Save the Sea Turtles Foundation or Atlanta Cancer Care Foundation.
