Roy Larry Cowart

Larry Cowart, age 81, of Canton, passed away peacefully at home on June 29th, 2025, after an extended illness.

Larry was born and raised in Roswell, GA, and attended Roswell Elementary and Roswell High School, where he played football. After high school, he worked at Dunlop Tire as an HR manager, then later formed a painting company, Cowart Painting, with his brother. He currently lived in Cherokee County in the Lathemtown community since 1981, and was a member of Hightower Baptist Church in Ball Ground.

Larry was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating on the lake. He was also a musician and enjoyed his years in the bluegrass bands, Blue Denim and Chattahoochee Station.

He passed his love of the outdoors and music along to his children and grandchildren, and was able to enjoy all of those things with them. He loved to travel to the beach, and across the country to see the sights and National Parks, but his real passion was his nine grandchildren, which lit up his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William (W.T.) Cowart and Ruth Fouts Cowart; brother, Ronny Cowart.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Teresa Tidwell Cowart; children, Dinah Cowart Young, Travis Cowart, Tyler Cowart; grandchildren, Darin Young, Avery Young, Jesse Young, Sawyer Cowart, Journey Cowart, Addison Cowart, Truett Cowart, Finlee Cowart, Blakely Cowart; sister, Peggy Cowart Jordan; sister-in-law, Nancy Hollifield Cowart.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie McCormick officiating. The interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and again on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.
