Roy Larry Odum, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law and uncle passed away on May 16th, 2026 after a short illness. He loved the Lord with all his heart, and said that the greatest day of his life was the day he was saved in 1957 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. He could light up a room, tell a great joke, and was incredibly devoted to his family. For many years, he made beautiful customized knives, and he could fix anything. Papa loved bass fishing, deer hunting, cigars, a "good chew," bluegrass, and Nascar. He had the blessing of being close to his Richards cousins and uncles and made many great memories at "Hunting Camp," along with many hunting and fishing buddies through the years.
He was born to the late Roy Odum and Sara Mae Odum Wood on April 29th, 1944 and was raised in a very loving home in Alpharetta, GA. He graduated from Milton High School in 1962. He married his beautiful bride, Elaine Dianne Odum on May 12th, 1965. He was drafted into the Army on September 8, 1966. This was very hard on them both, but he was a true patriot and loved his country. Larry served at Fort Benning, GA, Ft Polk, LA, and Fort Devens, MA, and he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal - Expert Badge Rifle (M-14). He remained an expert marksman during his life. He worked his early years at Lockheed Martin and retired from General Motors in Doraville after 22 years (even though he remained a loyal Ford fan his entire life).
He is survived by the love of his life of 61 years - Dianne Odum, daughter - Tonia O. Bagwell (Muncie), son - Larry Trent Odum (Kim), loving grandchildren - Alexandria Coulter (Ian), Elijah Odum, and Makayla Odum, and many other dearly loved family members.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 21st at 2:00 p.m. at Ingrams Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Martin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from noon until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of veterans to Tunnel to Towers or Samaritan's Purse.
