Roy (Roe) Daniel Wilson, Sr.

Roy (Roe) Daniel Wilson, Sr. went to be with Jesus on September 6, 2022, following an extended illness. Roe was born in Dawsonville, GA on April 12, 1944, and lived in Cuthbert, GA for the past twenty years.

Roe made the finest whiskey in North Georgia until he was 32 years old. He drove a truck for a living and drove over a million miles.

Roe was of the Baptist faith, and he loved the Lord and his family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching westerns and listening to Gospel Music.

Roe had a lot of integrity, was honorable, respectful, and hard working. He will be terribly missed by his son, Andy, who was his full-time caregiver and best friend.

Roe was proceeded in death by his father, Willie Wilson, mother, Ollie Wilson, brothers, Bill Wilson, George Wilson, Jimmy Wilson, sister, Dorothy Faye (Sue) Thurmond, and loving companion, Weasel.

Roe is survived by brother, Chuck Wilson of Gainesville, GA and sister, Bernice (Sis) Burt of Foley, AL. He also is survived by Barbara Wilson and children, Dan Wilson of Dawsonville, GA, Robby and Rebecca (Wilson) McGinnis of Cumming, GA, Andy and Lori Wilson of Cuthbert, GA. Grandchildren, Courtney and David Hunnicutt, Tyler and Lauren McGinnis, Amanda and Kyle Hanson, Amber Voyles, Kadi and Daniel Elliott, Cassidy Wilson, Morgan and Payton Smith. Great grandchildren, Gracen, Bret, Rylee, Baylee Grace, Camila, Theo, Daxton, Bryer, Logan and expecting three. He is also survived by his sweet rescue boy, Bimbo and nieces and nephews and other family members.

Family and friends of Roy “Roe” Wilson, Jr. will gather together at Johnny Gap Road in Suches, GA at the site of the Woody/Wilkins reunion on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at noon. Please bring a covered dish and memories of Roe to share. Then we will meet at shoal Creek Cemetery at 3PM. It was Roe’s wish to have his ashes spread over his Grandpa and Grandma Ingram’s graves. We hope everyone can join us on this day to help celebrate Roe’s life.
