Russell H. Honea

Russell H. Honea, age 82, of Cumming passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016. A native of the Atlanta area, Russell was a U.S. Air Force veteran; an Atlanta Fire Department Fireman for 7 years and retired after 22 years as a Ranger with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Arizona Honea; his 4 brothers, a sister and a granddaughter, Amy Glover. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Helen Pruitt Honea of Cumming; daughters, Elaine (Floyd) Thompson of Hoschton, Gail (Bob) Southwood of Cumming, Wanda (Tim) Glover of Cumming; grandchildren, Stephen Bradford, Jennifer Hamrick, April Herring, Russ Glover; 3 great grandchildren; sister Carolyn Martin of Cumming; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Sutton and Rev. Hal Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
