Ruth Ellen Lipps passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 18, 2026. Ruth Ellen was born on September 4, 1943, to Sidney Clyde and Ruth Henson Jarrett in Charleston, WV. Attending Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV, she met her high-school sweetheart and love of her life, Jon Warner Lipps. They married on June 15, 1962.

Ruth Ellen and Jon built an early life in Winfield, WV, welcoming their children Jennifer and Jon II into the world. She dedicated her life to being a homemaker and supporting Jon’s pharmaceutical career. Over time, Jon’s career took Ruth Ellen and the family to Cottage Grove, MN, then McMurray, PA and back to West Virginia. Ruth Ellen spent a lot of time volunteering, first in Minnesota at the kids’ schools, and later at Canonsburg Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Ruth Ellen and Jon were also big supporters of their granddaughters, attending concerts, dance recitals, and band competitions through the years. Ruth Ellen was always very proud of her granddaughters and loved them very much.

Traveling with Jon became an important part of their lives together. They visited Hawaii, Ireland and Italy together, in addition to multiple trips to Orlando, annual winter-month camping stays on the gulf coast of Florida, several cruises, and annual trips to Myrtle Beach with their entire family.

Following Jon’s retirement, Ruth Ellen and Jon moved to Georgia in 2007.

Ruth Ellen joins in Heaven her loving husband Jon, her parents, her siblings James and Carol, and her sweet dog Muffin.

Ruth Ellen is survived by her daughter Jennifer Butler (John), her son Jon Lipps II (Kathleen), granddaughter Sydney (Derek), granddaughter Molly (Alec), granddaughters Hannah and Savana, and great-granddaughter Audrey Jane.

Visitation will be held at the Ingram Funeral Home (Cumming, GA) on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 12 to 2 PM, followed by a memorial service in the chapel on site at 2 PM.
