Sammy Gene Hines, age 82, of Cumming, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a Corporal during the Korean Conflict 1952-1954. He was a dedicated team member of Poole Buick for 25 years. Sammy was a member of Saint Luke United Methodist Church in Sanford, NC. He was born in Lenoir County, NC but had lived in Kinston and Sanford, NC. For the past 6 years he lived in Cumming, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Horace and Elvie Jean Hines; brother, Henry Tull Hines; and sisters, Annie Myrtle Conway and Mildred Ruth Griffin. Mr. Hines is survived by, his loving wife of 35 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Hines; son and daughter in law, Derek and Kathy Hines of Cumming; daughter and son in law, Pamela Nicole "Niki" and Bob Peterson of Fairfield, CA; 5 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and 2 great grandsons. Funeral Service for Mr. Hines will be held Sunday, April 6, at 3:00 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Baines officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be Monday, April 7, at 10:00 a.m. at Georgia National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 6, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
