It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Sandra (Sandi) Orr Abbott, who passed away on November 24, 2025 in Cumming, Georgia, at the age of 73. Sandi was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, cousin and friend remembered fondly for her kindness, generosity and unwavering love and support for others.
Sandi was born on October 21, 1952 at Crawford Long Hospital, Atlanta, GA to Bobbie and L.C. Orr. She is survived by her faithfully devoted husband Tom Abbott, Jason (Renae) Abbott, and Josh (Amanda) Abbott, as well as her five grandchildren Nate, Konnor, and Brooklyn Abbott, Leslie Carl (L.C.) Abbott, and McNeilly Cade (Mac) Abbott. Sandi is also survived by her three sisters Sheryl (Tom) Danner, Stacey (Gary) Morris, Shelley (Bob) Evans, and aunts, Jean Richards and Rosie Thompson as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sandi grew up in Doraville, GA attending Our Lady of the Assumption School and St. Pius X High School. She was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Georgia with a major in Accounting. Sandi retired from the Forsyth County Board of Education serving as the Superintendent’s Administrative Assistant.
Sandi was an active member of First Baptist Church Cumming loving her church and cherishing her time making life long friendships. She faithfully served on the Ruth Reed Women on Mission’s Fall Bazaar and Spring Yard Sale as well as hosting and creating a beautifully decorated table at the Women’s Christmas Gathering for her friends. Sandi also served on a mission team to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and was passionate about serving the people of Lynch, Kentucky.
Sandi was a devoted wife to Tom Abbott for 43 years, and her greatest joy in life was being Mom to Jason and Josh and “D” to her precious grandchildren. She fully embraced her role as a Grandmother. Sandi will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will be forever cherished.
The family will receive friends at Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming, GA on Wednesday, December 3rd from 5:00-7:00pm and on December 4th from 1:00-2:00pm followed by the celebration of Sandi’s life at 2:00pm at the Chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Reverend Bob Jolly officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ruth Reed Women’s On Mission at First Baptist Church Cumming, GA.
