Sandra Ruth Perry

Sandra Perry, a long time resident of Danbury Connecticut and most recently of Cumming Georgia, died on Wednesday the 28th of October at her home while surrounded by her family.

Sandra "Sandy" was born in New York, NY on October 2, 1937 to the late Alice Thomas. In 1956 Sandra married the love of her life, Leonard "Lenny" Perry and settled in Danbury Connecticut where they raised their five children. While rearing her active family, Sandra worked in banking and gave back to her community by volunteering her time with charities and causes that were dear to her heart. She served as a battered women's counselor and cared for babies as a foster parent for Catholic Charities.

Upon retiring in 1996, she and Leonard moved to Atlanta Georgia to be near their children and grandchildren. In retirement, her call to serve continued as a Eucharistic minister at her church and as a Stephen Ministries counselor. During the Christmas season, Sandy and Lenny were also known as "Mr. & Mrs. Claus" to many Atlanta area school children. Sandra had a fulfilling life in retirement, traveling abroad with Leonard, chasing him around his workshop and garden and enjoying their time with their six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, until Leonard passed in 2013. Sandra was a loving and generous person who was very social, never met a stranger and had a knack for telling a good story.

Sandra is survived by her children; David Perry, Kevin Perry, Michael Perry, Missy Doris and her husband Steve and Maria Fragle and her husband Guy. She was the grandmother to six grandchildren; Nick and Samantha Doris, Tara and Tori Perry and Grace and Jacob Fragle and five great grandchildren; Anna, Adam, Allie and Ella and Rylan.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 1st, 2015 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Byars Funeral Home,

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 2nd, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Good Sheppard, 3740 Holtzclaw Rd, Cumming, GA 30041
