Sandra McClane O'Bryan

Sandra McClane O’Bryan, 83, passed away peacefully August 31, 2026 surrounded by her family.

Born on September 24, 1942, in Winnfield, Louisiana, she was a cherished daughter of Marilynn Wood McClane and Jesse Sebourne McClane. Sandra grew up in Winnfield with her siblings Kenneth Wayne McClane and Kathy McClane Tullos, where she graduated from Winnfield High School and formed many lifelong connections.

She later married Sidney O’Bryan, and together they welcomed two daughters. Though they eventually divorced, Sandra remained a deeply devoted and fiercely independent mother. She moved to the Shreveport-Bossier City area, where she established a successful, decades-long career as an accounting specialist while raising her girls with unconditional love and support.

Sandra had a vibrant spirit and a deep love for Louisiana traditions. She was a passionate fan of Mardi Gras and spent many years as an active, proud member of the Krewe of Centaur. For several years she was the Float Lieutenant of the Queen’s float which she designed from the ground up. In and out of a Krewe, she enjoyed the community, the parades, and the celebration of life.

In her later years, Sandra relocated to Milton, Georgia, to be close to her daughters and grandchildren, who were the absolute joy of her life. She treasured every moment spent watching her family grow. Sandra will be remembered for her sharp mind, her festive spirit, and her profound dedication to her family.

She became a beloved regular at the Alpharetta and Roswell Adult Activity Centers, where she was known as a true card shark. Whether playing Bridge, Canasta, Poker, or Mahjong, her presence was unforgettable. She also spent her time there creating beautiful stained-glass crafts and building deep, lasting friendships. The tables at the center will simply not be the same without her signature smile, her legendary poker face, and her quick wit.

Family and history were Sandra's greatest passions. She served as the family historian, spending countless hours tracing her genealogy. Her heritage truly came alive every October at the Stone Mountain Highland Games. She eagerly looked forward to dressing in her clan tartan and proudly sharing the rich history of Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie and the rich history she discovered in her family tree of the McClanes, Blacks, Wallaces, Clarks and Mackenzies with anyone she met. She proudly served as treasurer and membership chair for the Clan Maclaine of Lochbuie. She passed on her love of heritage and tradition to her grandchildren by sponsoring their membership in the Children of the American Revolution (CAR) where she served as the Chaplain.

Her patriotism and commitment to honor those who served led her to become a dedicated member of the VFW in Bossier City, LA and Cumming, GA, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC). Though she never wore a military uniform herself, her life was defined by a profound devotion to serving veterans. Her kindness, love of country, and tireless service to our nation's heroes will never be forgotten.

Survivors include her daughters, Karen Manning and Beverly Cartwright; grandchildren, Hunter Cartwright (spouse Chatham Cartwright, great granddaughter Casey Rose Cartwright), Tanner Cartwright, Haleigh Manning and Kailynne Manning; her brother, Kenneth Wayne McClane; multiple nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Dr. Jesse Sebourne McClaine, Marilyn Wood McClaine, her sister Kathy Eileen McClaine Tullos, her aunts and uncles Ouida McClaine Britt, Anne Wood Brock, George McClaine, Buddy Wood, and her ex-husband, Sidney O’Bryan.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 24, 2026, at 6:30 PM. Please join us at the VFW Post 1045 Dahlonega Highway, Cumming, GA 30040, as we gather to honor and remember a beautiful life.

Mrs. O’Bryan will be carried home to Louisiana for inurnment graveside services to be held Saturday, November 28, 2026 at 10:30 am at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Winnfield, LA.

While flowers are a beautiful tribute and she loved them, the family kindly requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of a donation to honor Sandra’s legacy. Sandra was deeply passionate about supporting those who served, and contributions made to any veteran support organization of your choice would mean the world to her family.
